Doctor of Optometry
Certified Integrative Holistic Health & Wellness Practitioner
Dr. Valella knew she would become an optometrist in 10th grade when she set her sights on earning a Doctorate Degree in Optometry at Ferris State University, College of Optometry in Big Rapids, Michigan, graduating in 1988. Dr. Valella began her current private practice in Battle Creek, Michigan along with being part of a group practice in Jackson, Michigan for 13 years.
Dr. Valella enjoys being creative and innovative in her patient care. After being in practice for almost 30 years, she noticed conventional medicine was not providing enough for her patients. When the opportunity presented itself to go back to school, she was eager to enhance her ability to help her patients. As a grad student at Western Michigan University, College of Health and Human Services, Dr. Valella earned her certification in Integrative Holistic Health and Wellness in June 2018. WMU's IHHW program is only one of a few in holistic health in the United States.
"I strive to provide a patient-centered, hands-on approach to eye health while integrating holistic concepts that maximize the overall health of my patients. I look forward to working with patients to identify and correct underlying causes of eye disorders, not just treating symptoms. I love being a holistic practitioner."
